Regional contractor Speller Metcalfe is one of six building firms to win a place on the University of Worcester’s recently-renewed Medium Construction Related Works and Refurbishment framework.

The framework, an approved list of building contractors the University has chosen to work with, will run for the next 3 to 4 years and covers construction projects of various values, from simple refurbishments to larger redevelopment projects.

Family-owned builders Speller Metcalfe, who are headquartered in nearby Malvern, have delivered more than 30 projects for the University over the last 10 years through their place on three previous iterations of the framework.

University projects completed by Speller Metcalfe include the refurbishments of the Pierson Study Centre, Students’ Union building and refectory all at St John’s Campus, as well as the Jenny Lind building, including the Law School, at the University’s City Campus, and the refurbishment and updating of rooms in the University’s various teaching spaces and halls of residences.

Speller Metcalfe Divisional Manager, Matthew Bailey said: “We know how important it is to the University to work with local companies so are very pleased that they have put their trust in us once again by appointing us to the latest Building Works framework.

“This new framework will open up a wealth of opportunities for us to work on some of the really exciting and ambitious projects the University has in the pipeline and we are looking forward to continuing to deliver high quality, value for money facilities for the University whilst boosting the Worcestershire economy through the local supply chain opportunities we can offer.”

A University of Worcester spokesperson said: “The University of Worcester is delighted to include Speller Metcalfe on our framework again.  We are always keen, where possible, to work with local businesses and value the excellence and expertise that Speller Metcalfe has brought to some of our most successful projects in recent years.”
