Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has confirmed that Mark Stansfeld, current Chair of the Worcestershire LEP is stepping down having successfully completed his term of office.
The news was shared at the Worcestershire LEP board meeting on 5 April 2022 and Mark will officially leave the organisation in early May.
Mark has been a key driving force for the Worcestershire LEP, guiding the LEP for over half a decade, overseeing delivery of some fantastic achievements for Worcestershire.
With the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Mark opted to extend his tenure as Chair to ensure that the high-quality level of delivery from the Worcestershire LEP was maintained during this difficult period to the benefit of the Board and wider executive team.
Mark Stansfeld, Chair of the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “It has been a real privilege to lead the Worcestershire LEP over the past 7 seven years. We have been able to achieve so much for the county and with confirmation from Government about the long-term role of LEPs, now is the best time to allow someone else to come in and continue that drive forward.
“I would like to thank all of the current and former board members for their support during my tenure and also wish the best for the executive team who I know will continue to execute the great work of the Worcestershire LEP.”
With the news of Mark’s departure, the Worcestershire LEP has also confirmed that recruitment for a new Chair has begun.
The process is open to all business leaders from across Worcestershire who have a passion and determination to help drive the county forward. The role of Worcestershire LEP Chair requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to work in a collaborative approach across local, regional and national levels to achieve the LEP’s goals for the county.
Mark Stansfeld, continued: “There is now an exciting chance for a new chair to join the Worcestershire LEP, I encourage any local business leaders to enquire to find out more about how you could lead the Worcestershire LEP forward to continue our work towards making Worcestershire a connected, creative, dynamic economy for all.”
