Worcester Warriors Managing Director steps down following takeover by consortium

Worcester Warriors has confirmed Gus Mackay has stepped down from his position of Managing Director.

It follows a takeover of the club earlier this year by a consortium including former Swindon Town chairman Jed McCrory.

According to the club, the former Zimbabwe international cricketer said it is the right time for him to step down.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved with the club for all their hard work, in particular the staff, board members, sponsors, and supporters for their support during this period of change,” Mr Mackay said.

In a statement on the club’s website today, Mr Mackay, who was previously chief executive of rugby league side the London Broncos, said he was ‘optimistic about the exciting future ahead of the club under new ownership.’

“I wish the new owners, Alan Solomons, and all the players all the very best for the rest of the season,” he said.

“I am confident that with the new owners and current group of players the Club will grow from strength-to-strength and build on the positive start to the season in all competitions.”
