Worcestershire-based Hussingtree Gin, has created a special gin for a local hospice to help raise money.
A juniper-led premium dry gin with nuttiness delivered through baked poppy seeds and subtle sweetness from black pear, the inclusion of poppy reflects the importance of memories and celebration of loved ones which is at the heart of the charity’s work.
The distiller says the gin works beatifully in the classic gin and tonic, garnished with orange zest or lemon.
With just 500 individually numbered bottles for sale, each at £40, the Hospice is expecting interest in this limited-edition, premium product to be high.
Tricia Cavell, Fundraising Director at St Richard’s Hospice, said: “We loved working with the Hussingtree Gin team to create a gin inspired by our care here at St Richard’s. Flavoured with nutty baked poppy seeds and a subtle sweetness from black pear, the inclusion of poppy reflects the importance of memories and celebration of loved ones which is at the heart of our work.
“The timing is also significant for us with our fundraising income having been hit by the cancellation of events and temporary shop closures due to Covid-19. In these challenging times, we must find new and creative ways of raising money so we can continue to fund our care. Sales from this limited-edition, premium product will help ensure we can be there for patients and their loved ones, when they need us most.”

Expressions of interest in particular bottle numbers will be taken but please note that some significantly numbered bottles will be auctioned off at hospice fundraising events.

The distillers began discussing a gin with the team at St Richard’s Hospice last summer.
What followed was a full contract solution – from creating a bespoke gin that reflects the charity’s own brand, developing the bottle label maximising the visibility of the 2020 campaign brand logo, through to production, bottling and labelling the finished product.
