A short film showcasing one of Worcestershire’s most distinctive landmarks has won a top television award.

The award-winning, promotional short film tells the unique story of The Real Flower Petal Confetti Company in Wick.
The film, which features businessman and landowner Charles Hudson telling the story of how and why he set up the UK’s first real flower confetti company in 1997, won the prestigious RTS Midlands region award, for the ‘Promotional’ category, which ‘recognises production excellence and creativity in content made to promote products or services.’
Real Flower Petal Confetti Company founder, Charles said: “This award win is absolutely fantastic and thoroughly deserved. Conteur were the first film team I had worked with who properly researched what we’re doing as a company and their approach allowed us to feel properly represented in the marketplace. To be honest, I was quite overwhelmed by it, I couldn’t believe that anyone could capture the essence of what we do so harmoniously, it was amazing!”
Gillian Davies, Director at Conteur, added: “We are absolutely thrilled to have our hard work recognised by such a prestigious institution. We were up against some amazing big budget talent who were nominated for films produced for companies such as Sky and the BBC, so this is an incredibly proud day for myself and the whole team at Conteur, especially the video production team.”
The RTS Midlands TV Awards celebrate the TV and broadcasting industry across the Midlands and are normally held at leading venues, but this year, the event was held virtually and broadcast live from BBC Birmingham to the RTS’s website and YouTube channel. Hosted by Tim Warwood and the National Lottery’s ‘voice of the balls’ Alan Dedicoat, the awards included nominations for Doctors, Great British Bake Off’s Paul Hollywood and many BBC and ITV journalists.
Gillian continued: “It’s been such a tough year for the entertainment industry and COVID-19 hit video production hard. We started this year by investing heavily in new equipment and training, ensuring that we could provide high quality additional services such as drone and 360-degree filming in-house, and whilst our video production service took a significant hit during lockdown, I’m incredibly proud of how our team worked tirelessly to support our clients and continued to deliver outstanding results – this award is the icing on the cake and testament to all of their hard work.”
Conteur recently made a number of key appointments in Worcestershire having secured new regional and national clients, with businesses taking advantage of its integrated offering of PR, Digital Marketing, Video Production and Graphic Design as they look at new ways to communicate with their stakeholders and rebuild their marketing activities in the wake of COVID-19.
