Worcester businesses win big in British Chamber of Commerce awards


Worcester-based outdoors camping, tents and accessories retailer Olpro, only just missed being crowned winner of the British Chamber of Commerce 2019 awards. But this successful company isn’t downhearted and is happily celebrating being runner-up in these major awards (the winner was Nottinghamshire-based Barker Shoes) – Olpro still has the second best e-commerce website in the UK.

Worcestershire was well represented in the national awards. Worcester-based chartered accountants Bishop Fleming which won both Business of the Year and Workplace Wellbeing Awards. Business West won the Most Effective Campaign Award for its pioneering ‘Trading Through Brexit’ campaign.

The  website, www.olproshop.com had already been voted as best eCommerce site in the Midlands by the Chamber, earlier in the year, and so shortlisted for the national award which was announced last week at Tobacco Docks in London.

Olpro which has picked up a number of awards from the Chamber of Commerce over the last two years including best social media for 2018, highly commended Customer Services 2019 and its regional award for eCommerce.

Daniel Walton, Founder of Olpro, said: “The British Chamber of Commerce represent 75,000 businesses in the UK, so to be a finalist alone is an incredible achievement.  To come second is an unbelievable honour.  The team work very hard.  It’s not easy for small companies these days but we’re very focused on our brand, on what we do and I do think being recognised is deserved.  For us, as a company, our customers guide us in terms of what they want from us but awards show us that the industry believes what we’re doing is also right.”

Olpro was founded in 2011 and now employs 12 people, based in Little Witley, Worcestershire.
