WOBA 2019 finalists announced at Celebration of Business event

The crème de la crème of West Oxfordshire businesses gathered yesterday evening to find out the finalists of this year’s hotly contested West Oxfordshire Business Awards (WOBAs) at the Celebration of Business Event held at Burford Garden Company.

Finalists in 11 categories were announced including:

  • BIBO Water a company that has created a water dispenser for instant hot and chilled filtered water (WOBA 2019 finalist: Small Business Award)
  • MyStore Self Storage who offer personal and business storage rooms in Witney (WOBA 2019 finalist: Retail Award and Blenheim Palace New Business Award)
  • Oxford Welding Supplies is an online store for welding and safety equipment based in Freeland. (WOBA 2019 finalist: Retail Award and Micro Business Award)
  • Cryptocycle who are using block chain technology to tackle the growing problem of plastic waste (WOBA 2019 finalist: Innovation Award)

Mark Harris of Solid Structures, a WOBA 2019 finalist, said: “This is the first time we have entered the WOBAs. We enjoyed the process of entering and welcoming the judges to our new Chipping Norton office. To be announced as a finalist in front of 200 people tonight has provided us with a platform to shout about our business in West Oxfordshire.”

The winner of the 2019 STL Communications West Oxfordshire Business of the Year Award is selected by the judges from the category winners.  The unique trophy for the West Oxfordshire Business of the Year was revealed at yesterday’s event. The 2019 trophy was designed by Rebecca Osborne, aged 18, an art and design student from Abingdon & Witney College. Her design has been turned into a beautiful wooden trophy the team at Synolos, Witney.

Fundraising will take place the Gala Dinner for WOBA 2019 charity, Volunteer Link-Up winners of the Charity Award in 2018. The organisation links people who have time to spare with opportunities to help local residents and charitable organisations that need their services.
