Having operated the UK’s largest urban 5G testbed since 2018, WM5G will be outlining its vision for the future of the organisation, building on the benefits for the region, providing a showcase of use-cases and trials, and offering the opportunity for attendees to meet the team and discuss how advanced networks and connectivity can support their businesses.
WM5G has supported use case trials across the transport, manufacturing, and healthcare workstreams and triallists will also be at the event to discuss their experiences first-hand, highlighting some of the benefits of integrating advanced digital technologies into business operations.
Taking place from Monday 11th to Friday 15th October at venues across the city, Birmingham Tech Week is a festival of digital, technology and innovation to celebrate recent developments across Birmingham and the West Midlands. The event is supported by key sponsors including WM5G, HSBC, the West Midlands Growth Company, and the West Midlands Combined Authority.
WM5G’s Managing Director, Robert Franks will outline WM5G’s activities at Tech Week with a keynote speech at Millennium Point, where he will reveal the vision for the future of the organisation and the ways in which they will build upon their extensive knowledge to help organisations accelerate connectivity and get the benefits from new technologies.
On Wednesday 13th October, WM5G will be hosting a Demonstration Day at Aston Conference Centre, where project leads Riccardo Weber (Manufacturing), Chris Holmes (Transport) and Adrian Smith (Healthcare) will be sharing insights and expertise gained from the roll out of real-world trials across the region.
The session will include live demonstrations from triallists and will give businesses the opportunity to ask questions and explore further developments, supporting businesses – from SMEs upwards – in understanding how digital technologies can be used going forward.
Attendees will also be able to attend the Advanced Manufacturing panel, sponsored by HSBC, where WM5G’s Riccardo Weber, will be a keynote speaker at the virtual fringe event.
On Thursday 14th October, attendees will have the opportunity to take part in an ‘Ask Us Anything’ sessions, with experts across healthcare, transport, manufacturing, and infrastructure acceleration. This event will give the chance to learn from industry leaders and gain advice tailored to their organisation and digital capabilities.
In the afternoon, there will be a variety of Explore workshops, with the main agenda focusing on digital connectivity solutions of 5G and beyond. WM5G will be addressing the levelling-up agenda in the digital journey with a discussion of how organisations must overcome barriers in productivity, skills, and adoption to close the productivity gap.
Robert Franks, Managing Director at WM5G, said: “It is an exciting time for organisations, both large and small as we embrace the digital challenge and use new technologies to support and power our sectors in recovery from the pandemic. With the West Midlands leading the way in UK 5G coverage, recently being named as the largest emerging technologies cluster outside of London, there is no better time to come and learn from the experts here in Birmingham.
“We are looking forward to meeting and networking with many organisations at Birmingham Tech Week, where we will showcase our exciting trials, reveal our exclusive future plans and share our expertise and experience with the region to deliver greater benefits to organisations across the UK.”
