Victoria PLC has announced it has sold its former sports ground in Kidderminster.
In a statement, the international floor coverings company said sale ‘followed the change of planning consent to housing’.
It said the land had not been used for more than 20 years. The site, which is a mile from Victoria’s head office in Kidderminster, was sold on February 6 with the planning permission for £2m.
It has not disclosed the buyer of the site which had a net book value of £100,000.
According to the Express and Star, talks between Victoria and Wyre Forest District Council over the sale of the land as a possible site for a new multi-million pound leisure centre broke down in 2013.
Victoria PLC is the largest manufacturer of carpets in the UK and has been listed since 1963. It was established in 1895.
