Versarien showcases new production facility in Forest of Dean

Versarien Longhope

Versarien plc, the advanced engineering materials group, welcomed visitors to its new production facility at Longhope in the Forest of Dean yesterday.

Neill Ricketts, the Company’s Chief Executive Officer, hosted the event at the new 10,000 sqft Innovation Centre that features a demonstrator floor using graphene enhanced concrete with graphene enhanced polypropylene fibres eliminating the need for steel rebar.

Versarien’s new product, Cementene, is an admixture which can be added on site or at existing concrete batching plants. Its benefits include reduced CO2, reduced material usage, reduced cost of the end product and improved resistance to water permeability. The practical demonstration involved the graphene enhanced concrete, CementeneTM, pour of the floor of the Company’s proposed new Innovation Centre.  The pour will also be incorporating graphene-based polypropylene reinforcing fibres to avoid the use of traditional steel rebar.
