Branding, content and design studio Danny&co has a triple celebration with a new charter, a tree-planting scheme and successfully onboarding eight recruits.

The company, based in South Cerney, near Cirencester, has joined household names like Deloitte and Amnesty International in signing up to the Good Business Charter, an accreditation that seeks to raise the bar on business practices for employees, tax, the environment, customers and suppliers.

At the same time, Danny&co. – headed by Danny Matthews – has subscribed to an initiative run by climate change campaign organisation Ecologi, and is pledging to fund the planting of at least 1,400 trees a year.

The third boast is eight new members of the team have come onboard via the Government Kickstart Scheme, which provides funding for employers to create job placements for 16 to 24-year-olds on Universal Credit.

“This has been a really brilliant few weeks for Danny&co. particularly with the success of getting my co-workers in via the Kickstart Scheme,” said Danny.

“Everyone has been asking me if they are actually any good and the fact is, they are amazing! They are all really talented and I think that is in part because, as we are running the business remotely, it didn’t matter where they were based so I had a big pool of talent to draw on.”

Among the eight new starters are Frances Hashmi, a graphic design and animation degree graduate who had been working in retail, and Douglas Matthews, who was freelancing before joining Danny&co. and is already working on print and logo designs for clients.

Danny said: “We have a fantastic illustrator in Fran, Doug the designer is superb – they are all brilliant. In fact, I didn’t think about having an illustrator and within a week of taking Fran on, we had a book illustration project which is perfect for her.”

Danny said the news of the Good Business Charter and signing up to Ecologi were also a boost.

He added: “We’ve always been advocates of doing the right thing by our people and our economy, so that’s why applied to join the Good Business Charter. We are really proud to be among organisations which are committed to a better way of operating, for a greater purpose.

“The same is true of joining the Ecologi scheme. We pay a subscription on behalf of each of our team and in this way we will fund the planting of at least 1,400 trees a year. I am now looking at ways of getting clients involved too.”
