Geoff and I met back in 1980, when we started working together. I was 16 and a school leaver and Geoff was 19. We got married in 1985 and have three children and six wonderful grandchildren with another on the way, which is due at the end of June.
Geoff is a managing director for DSS Ltd, importers and wholesalers of commercial vehicle spare parts and is also a vice president of Worcester RFC. I am the payroll manager at Worcester Warriors where I have worked for nearly 20 years.
Why did we get involved in Strictly Worcestershire? Well, I have to admit that Geoff initially agreed to do it and I never thought he would go through with it. However, he did, and I can’t thank him enough for giving me, well us, the opportunity to learn to dance together. I won’t say I have always wanted to dance but being a fan of Strictly I have always wanted to learn at least one dance.
We are raising money for Acorns Children’s Hospice in Worcester and having helped out there on occasions with the Warriors it seemed the perfect choice to help raise funds for the children who have life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and to give support to the families around them.
We are both looking forward to the task ahead with training lessons, rehearsals and costume design etc. May 23 will come around very quickly now. Good luck to all the other contestants and we’ll see you all in May.
