Action For A-T funds medical research to speed up the process of identifying a cure for Ataxia Telangiectasia, or treatments that delay or prevent the disabling effects of the devastating childhood condition.
A-T is a very complex condition that affects a variety of different systems in the body, generally appearing in early childhood.
Symptoms progressively worsen, leading to full-time wheelchair use – usually before the early teen years – and drastically shortening life expectancy.
In the UK, research funding for A-T is extremely limited so Action for A-T was established to increase investment in A-T research and raise awareness of the condition.
Through the new partnership, Stewart Golf is committed to supporting Action For A-T with their mission over the course of the next 12 months, as Action For A-T becomes their official charity partner.
Speaking on the newly formed partnership, Mark Stewart, CEO of Stewart Golf, said: “We are delighted to announce Action For A-T as our official charity partner for 2022.
“Learning about the condition you can’t help but get emotionally invested in what Action For A-T are doing for these families.
“As a parent, I really connected with the stories being shared, it is our hope that we are able to support the charity in as many ways possible throughout this next year.”
Sean Kelly, CEO of Action For A-T, said: “Action For A-T is excited to welcome Stewart Golf onboard as a commercial patron.
“Stewart Golf is a leader within their industry, with an engaged, international audience. Through its support and actions, we are sure we will help bring the message of Action For A-T to even more people, allowing us to fund further research and provide invaluable support to families impacted by this devastating condition.”
