St. Mungo’s homeless charity gets boost from Bristol waste management business

Martin Waste Solutions

Martins Waste Solutions, the Bristol-based waste management company, has partnered with St. Mungo’s to do its bit to help end homelessness.

Martin O’ Rourke, 31, business owner found himself homeless in 2013 at just 23. Within a year he had set about leaving the streets and established Martins Waste Solutions in 2014. Others have not been so lucky or determined so he has teamed up with national charity – St Mungo’s.

The St Mungo’s Community Housing Association was established in 1969. Working as St Mungo’s it has hostels and housing all over the country.

As a cause that is very personal to Martin, the company will be raising awareness and making a small contribution per collection to “this incredible organisation”, Martin said. “The goal is to give everyone tools to empower them to change their circumstances or prevent them from becoming homeless. If you’d like to donate you can do so through our just giving page using the link on our website.

“Martin’s Waste Solutions was fundamental to me rebuilding my life. As the business grows it’s important to me to put back in to the communities we serve.”

The company has grown since launch, employing 10 people and serving Bristol, Bath, Swindon, Gloucester, Cirencester, Stroud and has just launched in Cheltenham. It is one of the only companies in the South West to provide waste collection from probate house clearance to office and site clearance and demolition

“I chose St Mungo’s a charity to support, who’s aim is to rebuild lives. St Mungo’s vision, principles and values resonate with me and my own journey.

“This is why we will be raising awareness and making a contribution per collection for this incredible organisation. The goal is to give people tools an empowering them to change their circumstances or prevent them from becoming homeless. Our plan is to create opportunities for the homeless to join our team as part of their own journey.”
