Worcestershire building contractor Speller Metcalf has secured a £5.7 millon redevelopment contract to expand the M&S store at Sears Retail Park in Solihull.
Another 12,000 sq ft unit, originally a Homebase store, will be demolished and a new building will be developed and be combined with the existing M&S unit to form a single 82,000 sq ft store.
The extended retail space will offer more provision for customers and staff, including M&S clothing ranges, cafe, food hall and extra car parking.
Speller Metcalfe will build the new store to shell standard on behalf of BMO Real Estate Partners, then M&S will undertake a full fit out.
Rob Lashford, Regional Direct at Speller Metcalf, said: “As a regional contractor we are pleased that this scheme will provide a variety of local employment opportunities, which will benefit the community both during construction and as an enhanced retail provision once the project completes.”
The new retail unit is due to open next Summer.
