Apprentices from Worcester-based social housing and care provider, Sanctuary Group, took part in a wide variety of activities to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week.

The leading social housing and care provider, which is based in Worcester, organised a number of opportunities for its apprentices and their colleagues all over the country to support the week-long campaign.

Activities apprentices took part in included networking events and presentations, an apprenticeship coffee morning, job swaps and shadowing opportunities, employee volunteering in the local community and even Q&A sessions with Group directors

Apprentices in Worcester met the city’s MP Robin Walker and told him more about their roles, while Banbury MP Victoria Prentis called into the Group’s offices in the town to talk with apprentices and learn more about their experiences.

Apprentices also gave their time to support local projects, including clearing land for a new community garden in Worcester and volunteering at Cambridge City Foodbank.

Sanctuary’s award-winning national apprenticeship programme was established in 2008 and has since supported almost 2,000 people into work, both directly and through development partners

It offers a wide variety of programmes, from level two up to degree level, all providing on-the-job training, support to achieve nationally-recognised qualifications and a strong grounding within a national organisation.

Michelle Wood, Sanctuary’s Group Head of Learning and Development, said: “It’s an exciting time for apprenticeships, with greater awareness and more choices and opportunities than ever before.

“National Apprenticeship Week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our apprentices and the valuable contribution they make to our organisation.”

Nicole Seymour, Group Director – Corporate Services, added: “Sanctuary is committed to nurturing new talent and providing opportunities for them to succeed and realise their ambitions.

“We’re proud to support National Apprenticeship Week and to help promote the benefits of apprenticeships to a wider audience.”
