SGS College’s £7 million WISE campus at Stoke Gifford is now weather tight.

To celebrate the milestone, West of England Regional Mayor Tim Bowles toured the site with SGS Group Chief Executive, Kevin Hamblin, SGS College Principal, Sara-Jane Watkins and Richard David, Director for Willmott Dixon.

The building has been funded by the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership through the Local Growth Fund, administered by the West of England Combined Authority (WECA).

Mayor Tim Bowles said: “This major investment in the region is really coming to life and adds to the excellent progress we have made building the facilities that our students deserve.

“The purpose- built new Brunel centre will really inspire the next generation and help them get their new careers off to the best possible start with the vital skills they need to secure the decent, well-paid jobs of the future.”

SGS Group Chief Executive, Kevin Hamblin added: “I was delighted to welcome the Mayor for the West of England to view the fantastic development of this new centre for high tech skills at SGS. The build will provide increased capacity in the area for the next generation of scientists, technicians, engineers and creatives and inspire them to push harder to achieve their educational goals. Credit must be given to WECA who had the foresight and confidence to make this investment, as it will provide a world class environment for another 400 students a year to study at SGS.”

Richard David, Director for Willmott Dixon, said: “Despite the challenges of Covid-19, the project remains on programme and is a testament to the hard work of everyone involved.

“With sustainability and wellbeing central to the design and construction, we are confident that the finished building will be an inspiring space for next generation to learn.’’
