Self-storage company, Space Station, has announced the opening of its next phase with a 24,000 square feet expansion at the site on Highlands Rd, Solihull.
The new site features 250-270 new units, new lifts, and flexible office space. Having launched the original site in August 2020, the second phase comes following high demand from the local area, with some unit sizes already selling out and others being reserved from March onwards.
The store employs four full-time Solihull residents, and the build of both phases recruited several local companies, from construction, roofing and landscaping, to catering that was enjoyed in a socially distanced manner on the opening day.
Given the proximity to nearby business parks and residential areas, current customers vary from homeowners renting space as part of a move, to businesses such as wholesalers and market traders.
Elena Koroleva, Regional Manager at Space Station, said: “Many homeowners will come to the point where they’d like more space or storage in their property and some Brits may have reached this conclusion a bit quicker because of lockdown. It’s fascinating to see how upsizing costs vary so dramatically around the UK, with the cost of some individual bedrooms costing more than whole family homes in other areas. If you’re living in one of these more expensive locations, it’s worth considering other storage options before spending large sums moving to a bigger property, as you could save yourself a lot of money.”
