Science and Technology Facilities Council appoints planning advisor

National property consultancy Carter Jonas has been appointed as Town Planning Advisor for Didcot and Abingdon-based Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC).

The two-year contract includes land at STFC’s Rutherford Appleton Laboratory near Didcot, its Cosener’s House conference centre in Abingdon, and the Chilbolton Observatory in Hampshire. The firm will advise on all the council’s planning matters.

STFC is part of the UK Research and Innovation non-departmental public body who work in partnership with universities,  research organisations, businesses, charities and Government to encourage research and innovation. STFC support innovative science and technology research, including in astronomy, physics, scientific computing and space science, as well as operating research facilities in the UK.

The appointment is the latest development in the ten year relationship between Carter Jonas and the STFC, in which time planning permission has been received for a number of large-scale developments, including for the Rosalind Franklin institute (RFI), National Satellite Test Facility (NSTF) and the national Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC).
