School friends launch sustainable resin driveway business in Gloucester

Gloucester – John Pearce, Rich Fletcher, Brian Wright and Tom Stringer

Two old school friends and businessmen in Gloucester have launched a new business laying driveways using recycled products.

Rich Fletcher and Brian Wright will be laying driveways through the Oltco, franchise, a leading sustainable resin driveway company. Oltco will be delivering premium resin driveway solutions, including its innovative product, Recycle Bound, across Gloucester and the surrounding areas including Stroud, Stonehouse and Dursley.

Recycle Bound is the world’s first recycled driveway. Made using waste plastic (straws, plastic drink bottles and plastic food packaging) from a plastic recycling point, each square metre of Recycle Bound consists of the equivalent of 3,000 plastic straws. Since the launch of Recycle Bound in January 2019, Oltco has already used the equivalent of over 22 millionplastic straws in driveways, paths and patios across the UK.

As part of Oltco Gloucester’s commitment to the environment, Rich and Brian will be offsetting their environmental impact, by joining the Carbon Footprint scheme with 5% of their profits going straight towards planting trees

Rich Fletcher and Brian Wright are from Stroud. They met on their first day of secondary school, aged 11, and have been friends ever since.

Both had successful careers within the construction industry with Rich running three successful plastering businesses and Brian being a builder by trade with extensive experience in groundworks. Most recently, Rich has become a life coach.

Rich said: “I have worked with Oltco’s Directors, Johnny Pearce and Tom Stringer, in the past and have been watching Oltco grow over the years with a particular interest in Recycle Bound; a product that mirrors my own passion for the environment.

“Over the past 18 months, I have been looking for my life purpose and on the day after I gave up my plastering business, I had a call from Johnny about the opportunity to launch Oltco in Gloucester. I knew that I wanted to be a part of something that made a difference so the timing of the call, combined with Recycle Bound, Oltco’s ethos and the ability to help others through the business reassured me that this venture was meant to be.”
