Property professionals in Bristol to sleep under stars for LandAid

Participants in LandAid's Bristol SleepOut in 2020

Property professionals in Bristol will be sleeping under stars on Thursday (March 10) in aid of youth homelessness charity LandAid.

Landaid hopes 1,000 property professionals across the UK will join its biggest-ever event – and raise £500,000 to help end youth homelessness.

Bristol is currently second on the fundraising leaderboard behind Birmingham. Events are also happening at Cambridge, Leeds, London, and Manchester.

The Bristol SleepOut will be held at Ashton Gate Stadium sponsored by Bristol Sport. Each participant is asked to raise over £166 – the cost of funding a bed space for a month – and every penny raised will take LandAid one step closer towards its mission of ending youth homelessness, for good.

Wide support has already been shown across the industry for the LandAid SleepOut 2022 from headline sponsor, Knight Frank, alongside regional sponsor TFT in Bristol.

Each region will help fund a local project that will make a huge difference to the community. Bristol will fund DHI’s East Street Mews development.

East Street Mews is a ground-breaking initiative that will create 11 contemporary apartments to provide much-needed affordable housing for young homeless people in Bristol. The property in Bedminster Parade has been empty for many years and needs significant restoration and improvement.

On the night, participants will be hearing more about East Street Mews to find out more about where their money is going and how it’s being used.

Paul Morrish, chief executive of LandAid, said: “We are really looking forward to this year’s Bristol SleepOut to help raise vital funds to help end youth homelessness.

“Sadly, the numbers of young people experiencing homelessness in the UK has gone through the roof, with a 40 per cent rise in the last five years. More and more young people increasingly find themselves sleeping rough, and that cannot be right.

“So far over 650 property professionals have signed up to SleepOut for LandAid either in person at one of our six locations, or virtually to raise money to end youth homelessness.

“If you are involved in property and real estate in any way, and you haven’t yet signed up, then please do so.”
