Sandra Homewood Funerals has been crowned ‘Most Compassionate Funeral Business in Oxfordshire’ in this year’s national UK Enterprise awards.

In its third year, the national, annual UK Enterprise Awards, hosted by SME News, celebrate innovate UK businesses and business owners.

Sandra Homewood Funerals, the independent family owned funeral directors with branches in Marston and Headington, has been serving families in Oxfordshire for more than 65 years and was recognised by judges for providing a compassionate funeral service with a difference.

Its refurbished, modern surroundings breaks the taboo around funeral homes. This year it was the first organisation and funeral home in Oxford to offer GriefChat, a free, online live chat bereavement service which is transforming access to bereavement care.

The business is also active in the local community, working closely with children’s hospices and support groups, and proudly supportsSeeSaw, a local charity providing grief support for children and young people in Oxfordshire.

Sandra Homewood, Principle and Director of Sandra Homewood Funerals, said “We’re delighted to have won this award. It’s a great reflection of our hard work and dedication supporting local families and people through a very difficult time in their lives or helping those that wish to put in place plans for the future.

Jessie Wilson, Awards Coordinator at SME News, said: “The awards are given solely on merit and are awarded to commend those most deserving for their ingenuity and hard work, distinguishing them from their competitors and proving them worthy of recognition. Well done to all deserving winners, it has been an honour to showcase the dedication you show to your clients and your business.”
