Oxford-based cyber security start-up, Traced, has secured £150,000 in investment from Lord Brownlow CVO DL and his Reading-based investment company, Havisham Group. The investment will help to further develop Traced, the pioneering consumer app which is free to download from Google Play Store; and introduce Control, a new B2B app.
With the number of cyber attacks targeting mobile devices is doubling year on year, Traced detects malicious apps by identifying if, when and how any apps abuse access to users’ personal data.
Control is in development, with a planned launch of October 2020. It will offer unique advances through real time mobile app behaviour analytics, to protect the data of commercial systems from increasingly prolific and sophisticated breaches of privacy and security, addressing growing concerns for confidential meetings in the new norm of remote working.
Havisham Group Chairman, Lord Brownlow, said: “We could immediately see that Traced had not only developed a pioneering security solution, but that it had only increasing potential and importance; as the world continues to turn on a digital axis, data becomes more valuable and hackers ever-more sophisticated. We look forward to working with two such young, exciting and visionary entrepreneurs.”
With 65% of UK employees stating that working from home will remain the norm long after the Coronavirus crisis has passed, according to recent Citrix research, companies are increasingly adopting remote-working solutions. But the risk of corporate data breaches is growing at an exponential rate, as corporate data can no longer be physically controlled inside the network perimeters of the traditional office.
Ben Jones, co-founder and CEO of Traced, said: “Our vision, to provide accessible and effective protection for everyone, is more relevant than ever, as mobile devices form an increasingly integral part of personal and professional life. This new collaboration with Havisham Group will enable our continuing vision to become reality; and we couldn’t be more excited by the peace of mind and demonstrable protection that it will bring to individuals and organisations across the globe.”
“We’re very excited to start working closely with the team at Havisham Group, that has already seen success working with companies in the mobile app space.” said Matt Boddy, CTO & co-founder of Traced.
Traced was co-founded in Oct 2019 by Ben Jones and Matt Boddy, two 28- year-olds with 15 years combined experience in the Cyber Security industry. Ben and Matt were educated in Oxford and have worked for some of the biggest names in the industry, including Sophos, McAfee, the Ministry of Defence and Intel.
