It is a positive step forward for the fast-expanding Gloucester based ophthalmology service, as they take on a student, part-time, to gain experience in ophthalmic nursing.
Charlotte Bubb, will join Newmedica Gloucester’s talented staff in their brand new state-of- the-art surgical centre, Brighouse, over a period of 16 weeks. During this time, she will gain invaluable experience treating patients in a surgical environment to qualify as a registered nurse. The new program led by Debs Andrew – Theatre Training Practitioner and registered nurse in Gloucester, with over 30 years of experience in ophthalmic theatre nursing in the NHS – is set to be an asset to local institutions.
Nick Oxlade, Placements and Partnerships Lead at University of Gloucestershire, said: “The University of Gloucestershire are excited to working with Newmedica as a new placement partner. The University has a growing portfolio of professional health programmes including; Adult Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Learning Disability Nursing, Physiotherapy, Paramedic science, as well as a number of post graduate offerings, Master’sDegree pathways and other new programmes currently under design. We have previously worked with Newmedica to offer conference spaces in our Oxstalls campus and look forward to building on this relationship over the coming years.”
