Newland Homes sweeps the board at Gloucester Dragon Boat Regatta afternoon

The Newland Knights

Newland Homes took top spot at the Gloucester Dragon Boat Regatta on Sunday 12th May, taking not only the title of Best Mixed Team (Afternoon), but also the Overall Afternoon winners.

The team, the Newland Knights, was made up of 16 colleagues from the Gloucester-based independent developer, which is currently building locally in Maisemore and Hempsted.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Gloucester Severn, the Dragon Boat Regatta sees local businesses power across Gloucester Docks in the fight for the top titles.  The Newland Knights managed to steal the top overall spot in a hotly contested afternoon battle, beating the second place contenders by just 0.28 of a second.

The Dragon Boat Regatta this year raised money for the Rotary Club’s charity, the Pied Piper Appeal, which helps sick and disabled children in the county, and Newland Homes raised £1,680.

Jeremy Drew, Design Director for Newland Homes, said: “The 2019 Dragon Boat Regatta was an excellent day of fierce competition and rowing prowess.  The Newland Knights all rowed their hearts out and after a slightly perilous start thanks to a close call caused by another boat, the team rowed to victory.

“To be the winners of not only the afternoon regatta but also the best mixed crew too is an achievement we’re very proud of and is an example of the Newland magic and dedication that goes into everything we do.

“Congratulations to all of our worthy adversaries, and our thanks to the Rotary Club of Gloucester Severn for a brilliant day!”
