A new two-year online MBA that can be part-funded by the Apprenticeship Levy has been launched by leadership and strategy specialists QuoLux, in partnership with the University of Gloucestershire.

It is one of three ‘practical MBA’ programmes offered by this unique partnership, bringing even greater choice to those keen to develop their leadership knowledge while running their business.

Rachael Ramos, Director of QuoLux, explains: “As well as being available as a face-to-face programme here in Gloucestershire, our MBA is now available entirely online, either as a three-year programme, or it can be completed in two years. Crucially, the two-year timeframe meets the criteria for Apprenticeship Levy funding. This part-funding is available for the benefit of businesses of all sizes and sectors, not just for the larger firms who are required to pay into the Levy.

“We’ve introduced the more intensive two-year version so that UK delegates can benefit from a significant contribution towards the cost of the qualification. However, the nature of online learning means that location is not a barrier. Our three-year online programme, called Leading MBA, is receiving a great deal of interest from business leaders all over the world, as well as here in the UK.”

Central to the appeal of all three versions of the MBA is the work based learning model. “We call it the practical MBA because assessment is based on demonstrating how you apply your learning within your organisation and how you have developed your business practice,” says Rachael. “You don’t need to have any prior qualifications and there are no exams to sit.

“Leading organisations can often be characterised as ‘learning organisations’. Such firms recognise that developing the skills of its workforce lie not just in technical or professional expertise, but in the ability to think critically and analytically. That’s one of the great benefits to be derived from academic study. However, academia can seem far removed from the realities of the business environment. That’s why we’re so proud to have developed our work-based ‘practical MBA’ in partnership with the University of Gloucestershire.”
