The take up of distance learning courses in the region has been one of the few positives from the last four months, and through its Centre for Skills initiative, WCG has been able to deliver this training free to employees and business owners in Coventry and Warwickshire.
Part-funded by the European Social Fund, the Centre for Skills offers free training for individuals in digital roles through the Centre for Digital and Cyber Skills, and for employees of culture or tourism through the Centre for Culture and Tourism Skills.
The range of short online courses that have been available throughout the summer continues to be developed, and these new courses are now available to book.
Basic MS Excel – Spreadsheet fundamentals – August 24th, 25th and 26th
Whilst the use of spreadsheets was once limited to a specific set of job functions, there continues to be an ever-growing demand for employees across sectors and roles to demonstrate spreadsheet skills. These introductory one-day sessions will run between 09:30 and 16:00, and are designed to give people unfamiliar with Excel the confidence to start using it to process and understand data.
Blogging for Business – An insight into what constitutes a successful blog – Tuesday 1st September 10am
Content creation is a key element of the digital marketing mix, but it’s also important for social selling strategies and developing social profiles. This short hour-and-a-half tutor-led session will look at effective blogging techniques for business, and gives attendees a chance to explore how blogging could work in their role or for their business.
Cyber Security Awareness – September 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th
Employees are the first line of defence against business-critical cyber security threats, yet the importance of educating staff throughout the organisation to help them recognise and deal with those threats can easily be overlooked. This half-day distance learning course (09:30 to 12:30) is designed for businesses that want the reassurance of having staff able to recognise common threats, understand the impact of those threats on the business, and be able to deal with them in an immediate and safe way.
The Digital Marketing Mix – Elements to consider when preparing a digital marketing plan – Dates available from September
This 1.5hr seminar is a great opportunity to understand the various elements that make up the digital marketing mix, and get some direct time for impartial advice and guidance. Ideal for employees and business owners who want to broaden their digital marketing horizons, the training is designed as a platform for discovering the right digital tactics for marketing planning.
The Digital Landscape – An overview of the digital world, and how things are changing. – Dates available from September
This short taster session is designed to offer an overview of the impact that changes in the digital world are having on business. Ideal for business owners and the self-employed, it will help provoke thoughts about how best to take advantage of those changes, or put effective contingencies in place.
Digital Customer Behaviour – How people behave online and react to marketing content – Dates available September
Whilst it can be tempting to think that creating and posting volumes of content across multiple channels is a sure-fire way to build an eager audience, it’s an approach that could be costly and wasteful. Engaging with the right people at the right stage of the customer journey, and on channels they are actually using can be challenging. This 1.5hr course is designed to get you thinking about your audience and how they behave, rather than how you think they should.
