Living in a former church won’t be something that everyone wants, but the high ceilings and sense of history and community could certainly be a draw for many.
For the former, there’s a new opportunity to buy a former church near Nailsworth in Gloucestershire has been put up for sale with a guide price of £125,000.
The Grade II listed All Saints Church at Shortwood in the town closed in 2010 after 150 years of service due to a declining congregation. It is now on the market through property consultants Alder King.
The property is located on the edge of Shortwood, directly opposite the Shortwood Football Club ground, and provides 1,469 sq ft of accommodation. It benefits from planning permission for non-residential educational, community or charitable use but is potentially suitable for other uses subject to planning.
Philip Pratt, partner in Alder King’s Gloucester office, said: “This is certainly one of our more unusual properties. It has played a key role in the local community for over 150 years and we hope that it will be given a new lease of life and continue to be a focal point in the years to come.”
