GENBA, backed by Mercia Technologies, won the Venture-backed Management Team award. GENBA a fully-automated, cloud-based, API driven digital logistics platform that bridges the gap between publishers and resellers on a global basis. It provides publishers and retailers with a faster route to customers.

The Works, backed by Endless, won the Business Transformation Management Team award. The Works is a leading UK value retailer of gifts, art materials, craft materials, hobbies, stationery, toys and books.

The BVCA Awards recognise the best businesses backed by private equity and venture capital. This year, five businesses received awards for outstanding performance in each of the region’s categories.

Mettis CEO, Gordon Fraser, said: “We were delighted to accept this great accolade at The BVCA’s Management Team Awards event and to hear that the judges were impressed by our vision, culture and the way we’ve executed our growth plans even though the environment has been challenging.

“We’re committed to growing Mettis even further. We’re in the advanced stages of a £25 million investment programme designed to enhance our facilities in Redditch, Birmingham, in response to the growing number of orders we’ve received from leading aerospace customers around the world. For example, we’ve invested in new capabilities and we recently took delivery of one of the most powerful presses in the UK. We’ve led the development of new technologies including the first 3D scanner in the country which can distinguish between parts which look identical and have created a state-of-the art testing facility. This is all part of our mission to expand our global reach from our hub at the heart of the Midlands.

All three will now go forward to the BVCA’s national final to compete against other regions. The UK winners will be announced at an event in London on 29th November.
