#MalvernHillsHour Unites for Pink October

MalvernHillsHour

The local Twitter Group #Malvernhillshour held a charity fundraising event at the Mount Pleasant hotel on Friday 25th October in support of Pink October, breast care awareness month, specifically for the local Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven, managed by Dr Thrush.

The decision to support this amazing local charity was originally the idea of Kathy Leather, a patron of the Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven, by organising a lunch at her Copper Beech House B&B. Talking to her friend Dawn Harford of Artwork Creative Ltd and founder of #MalvernHillsHour, they agreed two events would be better than one and as the next #MeetWhoYouTweet Halloween event was planned it was the obvious thing to do! Calling on help from two friends, Sukhmani Pantal of The Mount Pleasant Hotel and Tonya O’Donnell who, following breast cancer treatment last year, has been personally grateful for the expertise of Dr Thrush and the Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven, together aimed to “Turn Malvern Pink” in October.

The lunch on 11 October was an extremely Pink affair and raised £1500 by Copper Beech House donating their ticket monies plus a great raffle on the day!

The evening Halloween event was a mixture of pink and incredibly spooky costumes! With support and donations from the hotel and over 30 local businesses! Fun & games were part of the evening followed by the raising of funds through a fantastic raffle managed by Sarah Grout and some incredibly persuasive auctioneering by Briony Harford which helped to achieve a grand total of £2250!

Together the four-strong team have raised £3750 so far with still more to be collected from local shops supporting Pink October in their window dressings and collection boxes, so they hope it will be in excess of £4000 by the end of Pink October!”
