Let’s beat Covid-19: Gloucestershire bespoke tailor offers video appointments. Suits you sir!

Tom Wharton

Barrington Ayre, the Cirencester-based bespoke tailor, is offering video appointments to customers old and new.

Tom Wharton, who owns the business, said: “During these uncertain times, we understand that clients may not be able to visit our Showroom.
We already have a video appointment service as we regularly make clothes for customers in Norway, the USA and Australia using this method, so we know it works well.”

“We can send physical samples of fabrics, a tape measure and then simply conduct a classic appointment via Skype or FaceTime.”

Tom set up Barrington Ayre Shirtmaker & Tailor 10 years ago. “I’ve always loved clothes, and being able to dress how I want to in the designs and fit I want.

“The trouble was that I found Savile Row intimidating. The tailoring shops on the Row aren’t always the most welcoming and I wanted to be able to provide the finest tailoring in an environment where my customers could feel relaxed and enjoy the experience. So I set up in my home town Cirencester in a first floor Showroom that is relaxing and inviting.”

Tom Wharton unstructured jacket 2Tom’s clothing has been  worn by the likes of Dan Walker from the BBC, Robbie Savage, Mark Chapman, Charles Dagnall, David ‘Bumble’ Lloyd and Michael Vaughan. This came about when he made some suits for Michael around six years ago. He loved his suits so much that he kept recommending the tailor to his friends and word spread. Barrington Ayre now makes  and we are now clothing for many celebrities and sports stars.

Tom has just welcomed a new in house tailor, Sian Jones, to the team. Sian studied Tailoring at The London College of Fashion and then spent three years on Savile Row at Dege and Skinner.

“We are delighted that she has joined the team and she will be mainly making our unstructured ‘Made in Cirencester’ jackets.”
