Lakes by Yoo home near Cirencester wins international design award

Lakes by Yoo

A lakeside cabin built on The Lakes by yoo, the 850-acre private rural estate located between Fairford and Lechlade, has won the Residential Architectural Property 2021 award in The International Design & Architecture Awards competition.

For more than 12 years, The International Design & Architecture Awards have supported the global interior design and architecture industry and have brought together an elite group of companies that are regarded as ‘the pinnacle of recognition with the industry’.

The Awards, which are hosted by design et al, are not judged by a panel, but receive votes online. Only 16 projects per category are selected for the shortlist.

The stunning, tranquil location of the luxurious Lakeside Cabin appealed to the voters because of its unique design, the views over Marley Lake, its dedicated split-level waterside deck where you can moor your rowing boat or canoe and its proximity to the spa, restaurant and children’s play area.

Lakes by Yoo 2The two-bed, two-bath cabin is fully furnished with interiors designed by YOO Studio and has a double-height open plan living and dining space with large retractable doors leading to the deck. Outside, natural materials found in the neighbouring landscape are used together with the use of local Cotswold honey-coloured stone.

Founder of YOO, John Hitchcox said: “We are thrilled at YOO that these innovative Lakeside Cabins have been recognised by industry professionals, clients and customers. We are especially proud of the Cabins’ eco-friendly construction and imaginative interior design, making the cabins not only the most luxurious in the cabin category, but also among the most sustainable created.”

The 850-acre Lakes by Yoo site features lakeside properties designed by Philippe Starck, Elle MacPherson and Kate Moss. There are now 165 multi million-pound homes circling ten lakes.

Two weeks ago the estate  announced plans to establish a cultural art park on the site.

The Lakes Art Park will display work by some of the world’s finest artists and sculptors, with ambitions to increase the number of artworks at the estate and provide a cultural extension of The Lakes by YOO to residents and visitors.

Located amongst secluded natural woodland, residents and their families will have the chance to engage with the artworks in a peaceful and private setting that will highlight each artist’s skill and creativity.
