Koo Sales & Services Limited, a West Midlands based wholesaler of janitorial and maintenance products, has been acquired by Nobisco Limited, a Birmingham product sourcing agency operating in a similar marketplace.
The shareholders of Koo had made the difficult decision to sell their interests in the company enabling them to pursue an exciting opportunity to emigrate with their family to New Zealand.
Nobisco started as a family owned concern back in the 1980’s and grew organically for many years. The current Board of Directors were appointed in 2000 with the brief to build the Company through a programme of intensive marketing and acquisition, supported by their expanding network of suppliers in the UK as well as the Far East.
The opportunity to acquire Koo was particularly attractive to Nobisco as they operate in a similar marketplace with a strong second tier management structure, complimented by a team of professional sales and operational staff. They identified that Koo offered additional, established lines, along with own branded items, to enhance their own product range. Opportunities for cross selling to both Koo’s and their own customer based were evident. Economies of scale and savings in premises costs made the acquisition particularly attractive and they moved quickly to secure the deal.
Nobisco acquired 100% of the shareholding in Koo and re-located the management, staff and warehousing over to their main operating base in Birmingham.
