Kenilworth software company wins major industry award

A Kenilworth-based software development agency, 4 Roads,  which specialises in Intelligent self-service has won a BIMA Award for technology more than £70K for their work on a Virtual Rack Configurator for Hitachi Vantara.

BIMA (The British Interactive Media Association) is a not-for-profit industry body representing the digital industry in the United Kingdom.

Every year, Hitachi Vantara runs a conference where it demonstrates to customers and partners what the next 12 months will hold.

Ordinarily the company would ship and physically erect hardware racks to demonstrate its new solutions and their possible configurations at the conference.

However, shipping hardware to international events is a time-consuming, costly, logistically challenging nightmare. Sometimes it’s just not possible to bring your own lorry full of tech.

This year, while Hitachi Vantara still wanted to demonstrate its solutions in a truly ground-breaking way, it commissioned ith 4 Roads to create a digital experience.

4 Roads created an exhibition stand that incorporated  3D visuals and artificial intelligence to allow delegates to interact with how a hardware rack solution would look once it’s created.

You can interact with the desktop version here.

By moving beyond a static, physical demo model to a digital experience, customers and prospects of Hitachi Vantara could configure and visualise a racking solution customised to their exact requirements—in much the same way you can configure the spec for your new car on a manufacturer’s website.

“As we started on this journey, we could see the value that customers found by actually seeing what they are investing in. Sometimes you just want to know what your investment is going to look like.

Our customers are serious and educated buyers, they need and want more than just pretty pictures and with this we can provide quick and easy access to the more detailed technical specifications for the products.” – Ian Clatworthy, Hitachi Vantara

The engaging digital experience enabled a depth of product information to be demonstrated in a way that wasn’t previously possible and offered people an interactive way to engage with the range of products being showcased.

The event experience proved to be a huge draw for customers and earned 4 Roads the BIMA Award for technology over £70K.

The BIMA award is one of the longest standing and most prestigious digital awards in the UK, so it’s great to see one of our local businesses representing the pinnacle of the digital revolution.
