Huge jump in sales for Gloucestershire infection control product company

CorrMed

A Gloucestershire producer and distributor of infection control products, has reported a 533 per cent boost in sales since the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic; the equivalent to an additional 700 units sold compared to the same period last year.

General demand for Huntley-based CorrMed’s bespoke, infection resistant medical bags increased significantly from the beginning of the year. In March the company secured a deal to supply the UK’s NHS Nightingale Hospitals with an order of 300 units, further boosting profits.

CorrMed is a local producer of a bespoke range of medical bags and distributor of AIRsteril, an air sterilisation filter that rids the air of dust, bacteria and viruses. AIRsteril has been shown to kill a wide range of microbes that are more difficult to eradicate than coronavirus, both in the air and on surfaces.

Business is expected to continue to grow throughout the rest of the year with the UK Government’s flu vaccine initiative planned for the Autumn where Corrmed’s vaccine carry bags, that are designed for maintaining temperatures, will be invaluable.

Should social distancing continue into winter months when the ventilation for buildings becomes more challenging, a surge in the Air sterilisation business is predicted in order to provide clean fresh air inside with ongoing infection control protection.

Katie Houghton CorrMedKatie Houghton, director at CorrMed said, “I have over 20 years of experience working with infection prevention and public health teams and so as soon as I heard about the Coronavirus, I knew that products that can reliably mitigate the spread of infection would be absolutely key in managing the virus.”

CorrMed was founded in 2017 to provide infection prevention and safety products into industry. It is managed by Katie Houghton, an experienced entrepreneur who has served infection prevention community for more than 20 years in her previous infection surveillance business, ICNet International.

“Both Airsteril and our range of medical bags help medical professionals to do their job more efficiently whilst further protecting their patients.

“The Airsteril system is also in use across many other industries such as hospitality, conference centres, offices and washrooms in order to allow them to trade safely.”

CorrMed’s air sterilisation technology is currently being used at  hotels and offices around the county to demonstrate how the technology can be harnessed to protect staff and guests.
