The latest training craze to take the world by storm, and which has attracted Hollywood superstar Mark Wahlberg as an investor, is opening in Gloucester.
Functional 45, or F45, offers 45-minute circuit and HIIT-style workouts, with a DJ pumping out music while you sweat.
Now Gloucester fitness devotees can start their journey towards F45 fitness transformation when its first county franchise opens at Bakers Quay on Saturday February 29.
F45 was founded in Sydney and attracted investment from Mark Wahlberg Investment Group in early 2019 to help it fuel international growth. The first F45 opened in the UK in early 2017, now there are 55 either opening or about to open, and there’s one in Cheltenham opening soon.
Gloucester Rugby’s Director of Rugby, David Humphreys, is one of the local investors helping to bring F45 to the city.
He said: “F45 is a really exciting new training concept that has proven hugely popular around the world and it is fantastic to see it opening here in the city.”
“It offers a convenient and effective way for people to get together to improve their health and wellbeing.”
F45 Gloucester Quays Studio Manager and Head Coach Marvin Thompson said: “It is about providing that personal training-style experience in a group environment and that is why we have two coaches in each session to give people individual attention where they need it.”
Members could also find themselves training alongside F45 Gloucester Quays latest ambassadors Gloucester Rugby’s Charlie Sharples, James Hanson and Jamal Ford-Robinson plus Ti Tauasosi who plays for Gloucester-Hartpury.
Charlie said: “F45 will be a great addition to the city’s fitness scene and I am really looking forward to coming down giving it a go.”
Ti, a capped Singapore women’s international, said she was delighted to be involved with F45.
“Where else would you get to work out with a live DJ?
