A Gloucester based Artisan Bakery business which produces ‘always fudgey, never cakey’ brownies, is opening a Brownie Bar in the Five Valleys Shopping Centre in Stroud after the success of its mail order service to customers during the lockdown.

Hetty’s Kitchen was launched by Henrietta Kitt in her flat at Gloucester docks in 2011 selling her homemade treats at local markets.

They were a success from the start. Demand quickly grew and just before her first child was born in 2017, Hetty took the bold step to grow the business. She began supplying wholesale to local farm and coffee shops, including the award-winning Gloucester Services.

By 2018 Hetty’s Kitchen had opened the Cake Hatch at their bakery in Morelands trading estate in Gloucester, which gives customers the opportunity to pick up sweet treats five days a week, direct from the bakery.

Since lockdown, Hetty’s Kitchen adapted by providing a mail order service to their customers across the UK. The new postal service launched for Mother’s Day 2020, but when lockdown hit the following week the interest in postal treats spiked beyond all initial expectations.

Their timing could not have been better, when all the wholesale accounts and markets closed it meant Hetty’s Kitchen could continue to sell to their customers and send brownies in the post. The Cake Hatch also allowed customers to visit and collect brownies in a Covid-safe environment.

Hetty and her team are now about to open a Brownie Bar in the newly refurbished Five Valleys Shopping Centre in Stroud. They will offer customers brownies by the slice as well as unique loaded brownies and add toppings of their choice! Hetty will also be offering a range of drinks, barista coffees and a brand-new all-day brunch menu – think decadent grilled cheese sandwiches and loaded pancakes.

Hetty said: “We are very excited about what the future holds for us here. We can’t wait to join the other fab food stalls at The Five Valleys, we think it’s going to become a great new feature in the local Food Scene.”

The new brownie bar/café is scheduled to open next month.
