Hazlewoods corporate finance team bucked the global downturn with an impressive list of deals in 2020.

In the twelve months to 31 December 2020, the Gloucestershire business advisers and chartered accountants worked with clients to complete 133 deals valued at more than £763 million.

Hazlewoods Corporate Finance Partner, Paul Fussell, said: “It was obviously a turbulent year in the UK and around the world, and the team at Hazlewoods are delighted to have worked on so many deals.

“Each one of those represents a business owner achieving his or her ambitions, which is good for the wider economy as we go forward.

“The first national lockdown caused the economy to stagnate, and the appetite for M&A transactions to weaken and althoughdeals in certain sectors were put on hold, new hot sectors emerged. The scrapping of the 2020 autumn budget has also helped deal flow, with sellers looking to secure existing rates of tax ahead of the spring budget in March 2021.

“The outlook for 2021 is already looking strong, with many more deals in the pipeline.”

Hazlewoods has been the most active adviser in the South West for the last two years. As well as sustained transactions in the general market, the corporate finance team has also seen a continuous volume of deals in key sector specialisms such as veterinary, dental and health and care markets.
