GTAccess acquires South East rival

GT Access

Bromsgrove powered access rental company GTAccess has strengthened its presence in the South East with the acquisition of Sussex-based Extreme Hire.

GTAccess is one of the largest independently owned powered access rental companies in the UK. The company currently has six depots across the West Midlands and South Wales and operates a modern fleet of just over 1,800 access platforms with more than 60 individual types.

Extreme Hire is run by powered access veteran Stuart Bond and is based in the South East, with its head office in Hailsham, East Sussex with depots in Shepperton, Middlesex and Meriden near Coventry. Extreme Hire runs a fleet of approximately 200 access platforms and Telehandlers and employs 25 people across the organisation.

Extreme Hire current Managing Director Stuart Bond will continue to run the two Southern depots.

Jonathan Till, Managing Director at GTAccess said: “This acquisition will strengthen our powered access offering and will help us to continue our ambitious growth strategy. I’m really pleased that Stuart has agreed to join with us and continue to manage the two southern depots and I very much look forward to welcoming the whole Extreme Hire Team to the GTAccess family.

As well as the additional depot locations the deal also brings new capability to GTAccess with the addition of truck mounted booms with working heights up to 48 metres and a range of Telehandlers, something that the company currently doesn’t run.

The synergies of the two companies make this acquisition a perfect fit. Both run similar types of machines, both are members of the Access Alliance and as such follow similar working practices, together the future looks bright.
