Plans have been approved for Ecclesiastical’s new headquarters at Gloucester Business Park.
Ecclesiastical, one of Gloucestershire’s biggest employers, announced in October plans to move to a new purpose-built office.
Tewkesbury Borough Council approved plans submitted by Arlington, owner of Gloucester Business Park, for the new headquarters on 8 February 2019.
The new office will provide the specialist insurance and financial services company with a modern and flexible working environment with sufficient parking for employees and visitors and will accommodate all of the firm’s Gloucester-based employees.
Ecclesiastical, which has been based in Gloucester since the 1970s, has strong links to the city and is committed to remaining in the Gloucester area. The lease on its current offices, Beaufort House in Brunswick Square, is due to expire at the end of 2020.
Mark Hews, Group Chief Executive of Ecclesiastical Insurance, said: “We are very pleased that the planning application has been approved. This is an exciting moment for us in the delivery of our long-term ambitions. The new site will provide modern accommodation for our colleagues, providing them with an environment where they can thrive.
“As one of the county’s biggest employers we want to commit our future to Gloucestershire and we will maintain our strong links to Gloucester through our numerous partnerships and charitable projects.”
Now planning permission has been approved, the insurer expects the building to be completed during 2020 with the move to take place before the end of that year.
