A firm of welding specialists based in Gloucester has helped a team of disabled racing drivers after it had some key equipment stolen.

R-Tech Welding Equipment, a leading manufacturer and supplier of welding machines and plasma cutters has been a supporter of Team BRIT for many years.

Team BRIT aims to be the first British all-disabled team to race in the Le Mans 24 hour and through its Racing Academy, it supports people with physical and psychological challenges in accessing motorsport.

The team is a branch of KartForce,a leading Uk charity in team endurance racing for injured troops.

The team’s welding machine was recently stolen, and having heard that a replacement was needed, R-Tech CEO Rob White got in touch to offer a top of the range TIG welding machine with all the accessories needed.

The machine is now a core part of Team BRIT’s kit at its workshop and HQ in Dunsfold, Surrey. From here, the crew manages the team’s fleet of five racing cars, currently being raced by seven drivers in the Britcar Championship.

Team Brit 2R-Tech CEO, Rob White said: “When I heard that the teams welding equipment had been stolen I didn’t hesitate to offer the crew whatever they needed. Team BRIT’s work and support is nothing short of admirable and it is only right that they receive some support in return. We are proud to have supported Dave and the team before and were delighted to help them out again. We know how much it will mean to them and the R-Tech Team and I wish them all the best for the future.”

Team BRIT Founder, Dave Player said: “Having our welding machine stolen was a big set-back for us but it’s just one of many challenges we’ve overcome with the help of our supporters.

“R-Tech are the industry experts on this kind of equipment and have supported us since the creation of our founding charity, KartForce. It was wonderful to hear from Rob with his generous offer and we’re so grateful for his support which will make such a difference to our crew.”
