Barnwood has been announced as the main contractor for Hartpury University and Hartpury College’s new catering hub for the campus, based in Gloucestershire. The announcement was made by Vitruvius Management Services, the company leading the project.
Barnwood went through a rigorous construction tender process, against other regional contractors.
The architects were another Gloucester company, Roberts Limbrick Architects.
Russell Marchant, Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Hartpury University and Hartpury College, said: “We are thrilled to have signed off local contractors Barnwood to build our new catering hub. This marks a significant part of our strategic plan, to support student growth at Hartpury with a first class, state-of-the-art technology catering hub for the campus”
Following the green light from Forest of Dean District council planners in October 2020, it is uplifting to see this exciting project move into the construction stage.
Mark Price, MD Vitruvius Management Services, Project Lead: “I would like to congratulate and welcome Barnwood to the Team. We look forward to having them onboard to construct Hartpury’s innovative and sustainable new catering hub for the campus.
“A first-class modern facility, with state-of-the-art technology and sustainable features, the new flexible catering hub will meet both the short and longer term demands and objectives of Hartpury to provide a greatly improved quality food service and an enhanced dining experience for students and staff on campus.
“The 2347 sqm two storey building has been cleverly designed as a multi-use space, allowing flexibility that can accommodate a variety of functions, with adaptable teaching spaces to support higher education and further education, including providing commercial opportunities for Hartpury to host external seminars and conferences with a bar and café which will be integral for social and dining events.
Ben Ramsay, MD Barnwood, Main Contractor, said: “We are extremely pleased to be appointed as the main contractor by project lead Vitruvius Management Services to build Hartpury’s new catering building, a stunning, modern catering hub, including environmental features…. we look forward to commencing on site in August 2021”
