Escape Live games concept revealed in Stratford-upon-Avon

Escape Live

A new mystery game, where a script by William Shakespeare goes missing and must be found within an hour, has opened in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Escape Live, which is situated in Greenhill Street in the town, opened earlier this year with a magic-themed experience called Chalice of Champions that has proved to be one of its most popular rooms across the country as fans of Harry Potter flock to the venue.

Now the company has unveiled its second experience at the venue, Shakespeare’s Script, which is the world’s first Shakespeare escape game and is set to attract tourists visiting the town to find out more about the Bard and local people too.

The concept behind Escape Live sees between two and six players placed in a room where they need to solve a series of clues in order to beat the clock and get themselves out.

After weeks of testing and tweaking, Shakespeare’s Script, which has received input from a Shakespeare expert, has welcomed its first players.

John Dalziel, one of the founders of Escape Live, said the new experience would bring the same level of fun and excitement as its existing experiences, coupled with an educational twist.

He said: “We have been working hard to make sure Shakespeare’s Script is one of our best games yet and it’s exciting to be the first ever Shakespeare escape room in the country.

“The fit-out is complete – and it looks great – and we’ve also been testing and tweaking the narrative around the game to make sure it’s a good challenge but also really good fun too. I believe it’s one of our best games yet.

“Bringing in a Shakespeare expert and giving real attention to detail feels like it has really paid off and we believe the people of Stratford – and the thousands of tourists who visit each year – will love it.”

Escape Live in Stratford is the company’s fourth venue, following Coventry, Birmingham and Southend-on-Sea, and the operators are delighted with the start the venue has made.

John added: “Chalice of Champions has been really well received and we’ve definitely seen an influx of Harry Potter fans coming over to take on the game.

“Magic, spells and wizards has never been a more popular theme and it works really well as an experience so with that and Shakespeare’s Script we have developed a great venue for Stratford.”

Escape Live in Stratford is open from 10am until 10pm every day and for further information or to book visit www.escapelive.co.uk.
