Gloucester-based construction company E G Carter & Co Ltd are working alongside Coombes Everitt Architects Ltd to build a new accessible single storey home for those with permanent, severe disabilities in Winterborne, Bristol.
The home will be suitable for those who are reliant on a powered wheelchair for all mobility and it will have on-site 24/7 care support for all personal, domestic and leisure activities.
Peter Blanch, Associate Director at E G Carter & Co Ltd said “We are looking forward to this new development, not only will it be a life changing asset for our client but it will also reinforce independent living and that’s what we are most excited about, seeing how a home can really change someone’s life”
Coombes Everitt Architects Director, John Everitt, said: “The development will provide a home for our client in the community where he grew up. The key objective of the project was to create a dwelling where the necessary space, assistance aids and technologies were integrated to the design from the outset rather than being added afterwards and thus allowing our client to live as independently as possible. The building form seeks to respond to the local topography and views from the site whilst also maximising natural light gain. Similarly renewable technologies have been integrated into the scheme to help provide a comfortable and cost effective home to live in.”
The building is set to be complete in Summer 2021
