Cheltenham-based Lifestyle Retail Group (LRG) is to relaunch Secret Sales, at its second office in Gloucestershire. The company plans to make it the first global 360° retail platform for fashion apparel, sportswear, beauty and homeware
LRG will use the Secret Sales branding and customer base to enable brands to create a global strategy for off-price retail while growing brand equity.
Lead by industry veteran and local businessmen Chris Griffin, former director of ecommerce at Superdry, and co-founder Matt Purt, former head of new business partnerships at Ebay, and supported by Secret Sales Founders, Nish and Sach Kukadia, Secret Sales aims to become the largest discount-only, branded product site in the world. The projected growth of the business is expected to create strong support for and job opportunities within the local area.
Building on previous success with Cheltenham-based business Anatwine, the revolutionary Retail Merchandising Network that was sold to Zalando in 2017 after growing the team from two to 200 employees, Chris Griffin and Matt Purt are seeking to propel the platform with its new business model by growing the Cheltenham team to 50-strong in the next 18 months. Chris said: “As a global business with local offices, we are committed to growing our team with local talent. We have a very unique offering at LRG and it’s an exciting time to be part of such an innovative organisation.”
Chris is confident that the success of the relaunched Secret Sales platform will positively contribute to the local economy. He adds: “We know from our previous success in the area that Gloucestershire is the right base for this venture.
“Gloucestershire not only offers a fantastic support network for local businesses, but also provides a great talent pool which we know will be essential for us as we concentrate on rapid growth. It’s a really positive step not only for us as a business, but for any retail professional looking to challenge and change the off-price industry.”
Secret Sales Founders, Sach and Nish Kukadia, will join the LRG board and continue to lend their experience in buying, marketing and technology. Nish Kukadia added: “We’re looking forward to seeing Secret Sales evolve to match consumer and retailer demands. We’re anticipating rapid growth of the new platform which will have a positive impact on Gloucestershire.”
Sach Kukadia added: “The new strategy with SecretSales.com remaining as the public face of the business, whilst the underlying technology platform and operations are completely redesigned to create a new-age, multi-channel off-price experience, is extremely exciting for everyone involved.”
Secret Sales was started by brothers Nish and Sach Kukadia in 2007 as a pioneering way for designer brands to sell their excess inventory directly to customers using the power of the internet.
