As many businesses start to plan re-opening following the Government’s announcement of its plans to ease the current nationwide lockdown restrictions, attention will undoubtedly turn to the welcoming employees and customers back into the workplace.
For some businesses this will be familiar territory, having re-opened following the first two lockdowns in the Spring and Autumn of 2020.
One such company that successfully returned to more familiar working practices after these lockdowns was Lansdown Insurance Brokers, part of the Ecclesiastical Group of Companies. Lansdown has been based in Cheltenham for more than 50 years and specialises in insurance for blocks of flats as well as providing wide-ranging insurance cover for businesses, individuals and across the property market.
In July 2020, Lansdown introduced a phased return to work for those employees who were willing and able to go back until the Government regulations changed in November.
To provide those returning with peace of mind that their office was virus free, General Manager Darren Bee asked Grundon’s specialist Industrial Cleaning Services team to undertake a thorough deep cleaning programme throughout the building.
“We have a variety of different age groups and, as a company that likes to be as caring as it can be, we recognise that some employees who have been working at home may be concerned about coming back to work.” said Darren.
“We fully understand that some will be more anxious than others so it made sense for us to remove some of those worries by having a thorough deep clean, with the aim of creating as much as a safe environment and a safe return to work as we possibly can.
“It’s about achieving the right balance, helping those who have concerns and worries, but also facilitating a safe and secure return and that’s what we’re trying to do.”
The deep clean took place just two days before staff were due to return and included vaporised directional spraying and micro-fibre wiping, as well as using a disinfecting sanitiser with active biocides to actively eliminate an extensive list of viruses, bacteria, fungi and moulds.
All offices, reception and communal areas, kitchens, storerooms and toilets throughout the three-storey Victorian building were treated.
Grundon’s Andy Stratton explains: “The Lansdown team took exactly the right approach by showing employees they are doing everything possible to minimise any potential risk.
“Our cleaning programme is proven to work and provides real peace of mind, guaranteeing that any workplace will be safe, clean and ready to use.”
Among the other measures to help reassure staff, Lansdown launched a ‘buddy system’ whereby individuals who would usually sit next to each other could work differing hours and special procedures were put in place to limit the number of staff in communal areas.
The deep clean and sanitising service uses a proven treatment to kill viruses (including all members of the Coronavirus family, including COVID-19, SARS and MERS) and 99.9% of bacteria and fungi.
A full RAMS (Risk Assessment and Method Statement) is carried out before work commences; and following a deep clean, premises can be ready for use within one hour, providing almost instant peace of mind.
Grundon operatives wear full personal protective equipment (PPE) and use specialist disinfection equipment throughout the cleaning process, with all PPE being compliantly disposed of after the sanitising has been completed.
Certificates of deep cleaning and reporting are provided when the work is completed, helping to provide assurances that the workplace has been left clean with viruses eradicated.
