Cotswold pub Landlord bottles it in organic refill business

Bathurst Arms

Cotswold pub The Bathurst Arms in Gloucestershire is selling organic milk in its own refill bottles in an effort to reduce plastic usage.

The famous Cotswold pink pub, awarded two AA Rosettes for Culinary excellence in 2021, sources the organic milk from Berkerley Farm and supplies customers with a glass bottle for them to then take away and bring back for a refill.

“Swapping supermarket plastic bottles can save so much plastic and waste,” Bathurst Arms manager and landlord said. “We can do so much more and if we can get our village (North Cerney) and a few from Cirencester then we are doing our bit for the environment.”

The award-winning pub was given five prestigious stars for Organic Served Here by the Soil Association Certification in 2020. It was the first and the only pub to receive the full five stars rating in the UK.

“Organic ingredients and suppliers are important to me. Sustainability and the environment is something that any modern business should think about.”
