Construction starts at Cotteswold Dairy for efficient new Cold Store Facilities

The construction for the upgrade of the new cold storage facilities at the Cotteswold Dairy family business HQ in Tewkesbury is underway.

Cotteswold Dairy is one of the largest independent family dairies in the UK, supplying England and Wales and processing 100 million litres of milk every year.

The popularity of milk being delivered direct to the doorstep has been steadily increasing in recent years and Cotteswold Dairy have seen a recent additional growth in their customer base on top of their organic growth. The new facilities are crucial to ensure the future of the dairy is run as proficiently as possible.

Project lead, Vitruvius Management Services, have been involved from pre-construction, also appointing architects AHR as lead designers and adi as the main contractor for the new two-storey cold store facility.

The Cotteswold Dairy team were invited by the construction team in a commemorative breaking ground ceremony: Attendees included Mark Price, MD of Vitruvius Management Services and Project Lead, Paul Smith Chief Operating Officer of Systems adi Group, David Beebee Director of adi Building Refurbishment – the main contractor for the build, Neil Chapman Construction Director, Peter Bryant Commercial Director and Anthony Connolly Project Manager.

Constructing the new facilities are Midlands-based adi Building and Refurbishment part of the adi Group appointed by Gloucester-based PM Vitruvius tasked to bring this scheme into reality.

One key element of the works is that the dairy fundamentally requires their business to be operational throughout the construction works and when completed the new facilities will provide around 2,500 sq m of extra cold storage at ground level.

Work is expected to be complete in Autumn 2022.
