Cheltenham chip shop Simpsons to star in new BBC TV Show

Best Takeaway

The award-winning Cheltenham fish and chip shop, Simpsons, is set to battle it out in a new BBC tv show, Britain’s Top Takeaways, next month.

Sara Cox will host the new eight-part series alongside comedian Darren Harriot which shall air on BBC Two from 9 May.

Simpsons, which has three shops across Gloucestershire, will be battling it out in a fast-food showdown against four other fish and chip shops with one winner being selected.

Friers at the ready, they’ll be cooking up their best takeaway meals to be sent to local households who will decide the winner.

“Whilst I can’t give too much away,” states Bonny Ritchie, founder of Simpsons, “I can say that it was one of the most thrilling experiences to partake in. Being able to share our food with Sarah Cox and Darren Harriot was really fun! We had to cook alongside some incredibly talented people. The concept was rather unique – delivering our dishes to the judges at their homes was fantastic!”

The BBC released the trailer for the show late last week, showing the contestants in the temporary kitchen setup alongside clips of the meals being delivered for review at home.

Simpsons is to appear in the first episode which will air on Monday, 9 May 2022 at 8pm on BBC Two and iPlayer.
