Cheltenham agronomy company Agrii has opened a new high sustainability seed treatment centre in Essex
The new facility allows high value vegetable seed to be treated with precision, temperature and moisture-control care for the best seed quality and protection.
In parallel to this Agrii, which turned over more than £340 million last year, has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with leading Dutch organic coatings specialist, Ad Terram giving the UK seed industry access to a growing range of environmentally-friendly, rapidly biodegradable, microplastic-free film coatings.
Agrii Regional Commercial Director, Neil Ross, said: “Our new facility is designed to serve the conventional as well as organic seed trade. ”He stressed the growing importance of environmental sustainability in the UK field vegetable market.
“As the only seed treatment facility of its type in the country, we are using it to provide the highest quality treatments to deliver this for a broad range of vegetable seed.”
Under the agreement with Ad Terram, Agrii will also be supplying the company’s range of advanced bulb and foliar-applied biostimulants across the UK.
Agrii invests more than £1 million a year in research and development . It manages around 50,000 trial plots annually, working with key partners, including ADAS, HGCA, plant breeders, crop protection manufacturers, machinery experts, universities and colleges, and studies a wide range of crops, including cereals, oilseeds, pulses, fruit, vegetables and potatoes.
